Frequently Asked Questions

Q Is the Lobo System scaffolding?
A No, Lobo is a light weight, portable work platform system, which does not replace traditional tube and clamp scaffolding on construction sites.
Q What is the Lobo System made from?
A The trestle legs are made from steel with steel tubes and the Loboard is made from aluminium box section with a birch plywood board, finished with a non-slip surface or you can have aluminum diamond plate.
Q Can the LOBO System be used to tie off for fall arrest or harness attachment purposes?
A No, the system is not designed to be used for harness or other fall arrest connections.
Q If two tubes are clamped together using the Loband, are they now load bearing?
A Only if the load bearing tube is on top of the cross member, not underneath.
Q What is the safe working load of the trestle legs and Loboards.
A The safe working load is 250kg / 550lbs per trestle leg.
Q At what height should I use handrails?
A At any height and where there is a risk of injury due to a fall
Q When should I use toe boards?
A At any height.
Q What is the surface finish on a Lobo component?
A It is zinc electroplate with an olive passivation.
Q Can the gold lacquer finish fade or even scratch off
A Yes, the olive passivation may fade, but the zinc electroplate is electrcally bonded to the steel surface.
Q What can be done if fading or scratching occurs?
A The condition of the olive passivation has no effect on the overall system performance.
Q Are sway braces load bearing?
A No they are only used to make the structure rigid.
Q Need I tighten the L bolt with a tool?
A No, under normal conditions the strength of a hand is enough.
Q Can the Lobo System be a target for thieves when left out over night?
A No as the structure can be dismantled and assembled in minutes, it can be packed away safe overnight.
Q Can the L bolts come loose?
A No, they are retained and under normal conditions will not become detached from the trestle leg.
Q When should I use the outriggers?
A Whenever there is movement in a structure and definitely when the structure is over 2 metres/6.5 feet standing height.
Q Can the Lobo System be made stable on uneven ground?
A Yes, by loosening the 2 bolts on one side stability can normally be achieved.
Q Are there any limits to what can be constructed by the Lobo System?
A Yes, your imagination.
Q What is the working, height to base ratio which must never be exceeded.
A Three times the height to once times the base width.
Q What regulations does Lobo System conform to in the USA?
A OSHA compliant and ANSI A10.8.
